Our History
Gesstwood Camp & Education Centre has been in operation at its current site since 1960, but has roots in the Kingsville Summer School. This gathering of kids and youth happened each summer in Lakeside Park since 1925.
For over 60 years, Gesstwood has been offering Windsor Essex youth the opportunity to learn leadership and outdoor skills, spend time in nature, and make new friends.
Still run in connection with The United Church of Canada, Gesstwood is a non-profit and is funded by bursaries, donations and camp fees. We are a registered charity. Gesstwood has a Bursary fund that helps kids attend camp whose families are unable to afford the full camp fees.
Over our many decades of operation, we have endeavored to improve our facilities as every turn, so we can offer children the best summer camp experience possible.
Campers have days full of adventure at our outdoor pool, High and Low Ropes Courses, basketball court, volleyball court, and many nature trails.
